Emberton House Call Veterinary Clinic is pleased to offer laser surgery as an option for safe, comfortable treatment of many common conditions such as cysts, tumors, warts and infections. The laser can be used in the mouth, around the eyes and ears, and anywhere on the skin. Specialized internal procedures are also available.
In many procedures, a laser can replace the scalpel, resulting in less pain, less loss of blood, and less swelling. The laser seals nerve endings, reducing post-operative pain, and small blood vessels, resulting in faster procedures which require less anesthesia. It is very precise, and will not crush, tear, or bruise. The laser even sterilizes as it removes diseased tissue, killing infection-causing bacteria. Your pet's recovery time may be significantly shortened. About Lasers: A laser is a device which generates an intense beam of light at a specific wavelength. The most commonly used surgical laser is a CO2 laser which produces an invisible beam of light which vaporizes the water found in the skin and soft tissue. Because the veterinarian can precisely control the laser, only a thin layer of tissue is removed, leaving surrounding, healthy areas unaffected. |
